TOMMY AMATO

Drummer, guitar player, bass player,

harmonica player, producer and songwriter

Tommy was born in Detroit, Michigan.  When in his early teens, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee.  He soon became a popular session drummer working for Chet Atkins, Boots Randolph, Ray Stevens and many others.  After spending eight years in Nashville, he moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a musician and formed a production company with Brent Maher and Quitman Dennis.  In Las Vegas he began his six year gig as Bobby Darin's drummer.  During that time, he taught Bobby how to play the harmonica, produced for him and wrote songs with him.  After Bobby's untimely death, Tommy played bass for Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Tommy's television appearances include Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, The Bobby Darin Show, The David Frost Show, Mike Douglas Show, Dick Cavett Show, Della Reese Show and Midnight Special.

He worked with The Allman Brothers Band when they were known as The Allman Joys and recorded with Tina Turner.

Tommy has written for Screen Gems and Columbia Music.  He has played on a number of recordings, including The Vogues #1 hit, "Five O'Clock World" and Ray Stevens recording of "Ahab The Arab."

In the late '70's and early '80's, he was the guitarist for one of Las Vegas' most talented and popular lounge bands, "Jones."

Tommy still works in Las Vegas as a musician, sometimes playing drums and sometimes guitar.  Although he's slowed down, he occasionally goes on the road with Eric Martin and Carmen Romano, nationally known for their ever-popular salute to The Blues Brothers.
